via Erebor Free Press EREBOR - Erebor's owner and GM, sometimes affectionately known as "PapaBear," addressed the media today on two recent pre-season trades. "The fans-our people, the ones we do all this for-have indicated they ain't too darned happy...As he repeated the words "starting pitchers," PapaBear looked up from his notes and scanned the room with what can only be described as a defiant, tight-lipped, smile.
"So, you gotta be scratching your heads asking, 'If your biggest need is starting pitchers, how do you let go of a top guy like Bugrin Spinner??' But I figure you know the answer to that. At 35, Bugrin ain't old; and he sure has several good years left in that right arm of his. But, to get you gotta give; you all know that. And what we need is a whole crop of young arms. A whole crop of 'em."
As he repeated this phrase, PapaBear looked up to the heavens, as if looking for some sign of rain to nourish that crop he is hoping for.
"So we feel that we're doing the right thing by acquiring a solid starter in Rulina Veslay-whom we think might have a couple years more in that arm of hers than the fella she replaces-and Voilin Gwaimir, who's only 28 and might be just about to come into full potential."
Here, PB stepped away from the podium as if he were stepping out of one world and into another; then, he continued.
"I got one more thing to say to the Erebor faithful: we got a surprise comin'. I'm not at liberty to say what it is just yet. But, I will say this: there's some nasty rumors going around, and those rumors are the truth . . . and you fans are gonna love seeing them come to life, right in front of your hungry eyes!"
PapaBear stepped down from the podium, then, and said he'd talk to the media again sometime during Spring Training.

And maybe we got Chubb too late to be the difference-maker we believe she can be. But, here we are again--faced with that age-old question: do we go for it now, or see what we can build for the future?"
Later, at a press conference, he attempted to answer his own question. In a prepared statement, PapaBear said, "The Erebor franchise has decided to commit to building for the future. We want to give our best young players the time and coaching and incentive to develop their skills at whatever level seems right for them during the 2018 season. And, we want to add more young talent with an eye toward establishing a franchise that is strong from top to bottom, and developing new talent as standard operating procedure. Now, to that end, we know we may have to sacrifice some of our top veteran players, and maybe even one or two of those up-and-comers I mentioned earlier today. There are teams in this league poised to win it all now, needing only that specific piece to put them over the top. So, we are going on record here and now as being ready to do business. Serious business."

Celeborn, also known as "Little Brother," is the younger brother of Nienor *Silverspike, shortstop for the Ravenhill Darkwings. Although..."After all," he said in a casual discussion while he waited for his turn in the batting cage, "my big sister taught me everything I know about this game. I just hope I can live up to the high standards she has set for me."
Both Celeborn and Nienor are of the race of elves, as was the original Celeborn. But Nienor, he says, was named for the human third child of Hurin Thalion. "Our family has a long and proud history of its own," Celeborn told this reporter, "but we like to honor, with our naming, the deepest roots of Middle Earth history."
As Celeborn stepped into the cage, and for the next 10 minutes laced hits to all parts of the field, and from both sides of the plate, it certainly seemed that another *Silverspike was going to be a welcome addition to the Erebor franchise.
