*Squishmasher in Tolkien Baseball HOF

Monday, July 6th, 2020: The baseball legends today welcomed to their exclusive club a new shortstop by the name of Loopy *Squishmasher. His induction ceremony was held today at the Tolkien Baseball Hall of Fame.

"I remember thinking to myself after I had had a couple of good years, that if I keep doing this, maybe I just might make it to the Hall of Fame. The dream became a reality today and I must say this is a very proud day today.

Over his career *Squishmasher batted .328 and collected 2682 hits, 385 home runs and 1395 RBIs. He played in 2151 games and retired from baseball at age 38.

His former manager introduced *Squishmasher saying, "The big thing about Loopy is that he could hit any pitch. I don't mean only strikes. He could hit a ball off his ankles or off his ear."

While *Squishmasher was the only player to make the cut this year, a couple of others came close. Both Drogo Boffin and Todo Shinsnapper were named on 67% of the ballots received, a strong showing for both first-time nominees. Relief pitcher, Imrohil Haleogast, garnered 47% of the vote in his 7th appearance on the ballot. Long-time Lake Town catcher, Thuralia Nilad, also got 47%.

Silas *Debuugger, Isszava Eliondel and Geadriel Gamialf each got 40%. Gandaudur Eowodor had 33% and Marus *Alu, Anson Banks, Arwildoc Belebrindil, Faraborn Elrum and Pimth Galdor rounded out the list of players staying on the ballot for next year with 27%.

Failing to make the cut were Gomli Forgedelver, Minto Gamwich, Bagwurz Bloodaxe, Boriam Celebrin, Neegar *Nosegobbler, Posco *Sackville, Gignar Chiseltwister, Pimpernel Chubb, Perauman Merumli, Lintegurth Musiceye, Jerrolde Rector, Elrelf Elreoborn, Kim Emeraldnose, Sordor Glothien, Nodush Gnollgobber, Imredoc Gwildur, Daniel Larrabee, Dinodas Muddyfoot, Camelia Mugworts, Eucalypta the Pink and Thigol Thiama.
