Number 2000 for Gamgee

MINAS ITHIL - Rivendell's Petunia Gamgee entered the record books today as she collected hit number 2000 at Silmarillion Cellular Field in Minas Ithil.

"I am proud of this. Not too many player reach this level. You have to be around quite a few years and you have to get a lot of hits," Gamgee said after the game.

On her milestone day she went 4 for 5 as the Royals won 9-1 over the Minas Ithil Wyrms.

Gamgee has played in 1965 games and posted a lifetime .276 average. She has 2000 hits, 382 doubles, 15 triples and 320 homers. In addition she has driven in 1099 runs and scored 1040 times.
